I’ve lived in Brighton for 4.5 years now and it’s a wonderful city to explore! There are many different areas of the city including Hove, the seafront, Brighton town centre, Seven Dials, Kemp Town and Brighton Marina and I have friends spread across town. There’s plenty to see, so many things to do and in many ways, I feel like I’m still discovering the city. Here are 6 ways I explore Brighton.
Walking
I tend to do most of my travelling around on foot! Other than the obvious health benefits, I do love a seaside walk to improve my mood and motivate me for the rest of the day! My favourite stroll is along the promenade, taking in the sea views and the vibrant atmosphere in every season. Although Brighton and Hove is spread out, it’s easy and cost-free walking within central Brighton & Hove! The Visit Brighton website offers several Brighton walking maps on their website.
Public Transport
If I’m going into town taking the bus is my main form of transport. Thankfully, the city offers a wonderful public transport service in the form of Brighton & Hove buses. The ticket prices could be reduced but then again the buses are so regular and efficient I can’t really complain! There are various ticket types, more so when you have the App, and affordable saver tickets. Night buses also run into the early hours of the morning!
Driving
I don’t drive but many of my friends do and having my own car would probably make things easier. I’m not sure driving in the city would be beneficial because of traffic delays and parking fees but I would love to have the freedom to drive into the countryside and the South Downs whenever I wanted to. Although the price of a new car is costly, Motorpoint offers affordable used cars, ideal for anyone looking for an affordable option or updating the family car.
Taxis
Although taxis are the most expensive option for getting around Brighton, they offer a comfortable and quick ride home after a night out! Who wants to sit on a night bus for what feels like hours when you have the convenience of a taxi service? Brighton’s taxis are super reliable and usually come within minutes of ordering one, at any time of day or night!
Cycling
I do have a bike and should use it more as there is a great cycle network across Brighton and Hove. The best cycle lane is the one along the seafront, spanning West Hove all the way to Brighton Marina. It’s a beautiful scenic route and provides perfect seaviews! You also pass some of Brighton’s famous landmarks along the way including Brighton Bandstand, the British Airways i360, West Pier, Palace Pier and more!
Scooting/Skateboarding
Pip loves his scooter and he’s usually on it whenever we go out. He whizzes around whilst I walk (or run) beside him! Along with scooters, skateboards are another great way to explore the city, especially along the seafront path! There are several skateparks in Brighton & Hove, perfect for practicing the hobby and scooting/skateboarding offers a quick and free alternative for getting around the city!

ReplyDeleteI think a visit with the kids is a must this Summer. Evelyn seem to have forgotten that we've been to the beach before. I guess she was too young - it has almost been 2 years ago. I like that Brighton has so much to offer. I think I will also take our Scooting/Skateboarding there as well. Save them walking. lol! Thanks for sharing. #ExplorerKids xx
