Name Change: From Toddler to Pip

I have been meaning to write this post for a while! When I started blogging I chose not to use my son's real name on my blog. That was over two years ago now and I referred to him as 'baby'. Typically, he was over his baby stage within a few months and soon toddling around everywhere. The word 'baby' didn't suit him anymore so I started calling him 'toddler'. And then within months he was no longer a toddler, instead an active boy running everywhere! So, I started referring to him as 'my son' and 'my little boy' but doing that in nearly every blog post gets tedious, believe me! If I had been a bit more creative at the beginning I would have used a nickname from the start. However, it's never too late to start anything is it? A wonderful example of this is my grandmother who passed her driving test in her 50s just to prove to my grandfather she could do it! So, now my little boy is three I've decided to use the nickname 'Pip' here on the blog. I've always liked the name since reading Great Expectations and 'Polly and Pip' has a certain ring to it. My cheeky little monkey's new blog name is Pip! :-)

What nicknames do you call your children? Do you use real names or nicknames on your blog? Would love to hear your thoughts.

  3. That's a great idea! I use my kids real names, but the eldest is an actor, and number 2 wants to be a youtuber - so I don't think they'll ever be out of the spotlight in some way shape or form!! lol. But it was definitely a consideration moving into the online space - is it their right to NOT be in the spotlight? Or because they're growing up in it anyway - does it really matter? It's an interesting debate. :) But Pip is such a cute name, and a great way to refer to him.

loving those gorgeous curls too!! <3
