Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a lovely holiday. I barely logged into social media during
Christmas and it was such a welcome break! I sometimes feel in the
blogging world there is the tendency to be online all the time but it’s not necessary. It was lovely to barely open my laptop during the holidays and instead make the most of each day. I spent a lot of quality time with
Pip, now having to get used to the school holiday system. I also spent a lot of time with friends and for the first time in many years I went out for New Year's Eve, yay!
We did a lot in 2017; celebrated Pip’s
4th birthday, travelled to
Wales and
Venice and made the most of the summer months before Pip started school! We spent so many days on the
beach with friends and family and my
top nine Instagram photos show these being the most popular captures. The combination of Pip being in full-time school and co-parenting gave me more time to myself. I still feel like I’m adjusting with the new schedule and I do miss pre-school days where we could take spontaneous
day trips in the week, away from the crowds but it’s given me an opportunity to make the most of my personal time. I did a lot of things in 2017, stuff I’ve decided to keep private and will not document online. But for a combination of reasons, 2017 was
a year of growth and in many ways one of my best years to date!
I don’t have a long list of new year’s resolutions for 2018 but in terms of blogging I want to bring some motivation back and return to writing about subjects that interest me. For example, I love writing about
travel so hope to include more day trips and travel features. I’d like to explore more this year and plan another trip to
India! For these reasons, I need to be more organised and live a bit more frugally so I can save! I’d also like to continue being sporty. Pip learnt to swim this summer but because of the new school schedule & filling our weekends with seeing friends & family we haven’t been to the pool in months. He needs some more
boys’ swimwear because he is growing at a rapid rate (one of the tallest in his class) then we’ll be back at the pool! I’m very much looking to the warmer weather,
growing our own fruit and veg (hopefully Pip will help me sow some seeds and the slugs won’t eat them this year) and just enjoying the simple things in life like hanging out with friends on the beach and sitting in the sun! Cheers to a happy 2018!
